Fan Fiction: Crossovers
Can't Get You Outta My Head

Chapter 12 (pt 3)

"Who do you suppose she meant?" Stephen asked his counterpart.

"I don't know." Answered Khan. As he spoke, Khan reached into his collar, and caught a flap of skin. He pulled sharply on it, revealing…

  Peter Parker.

Peter pulled off the last of the mask, and rubbed his face clean. "Maybe she just wanted to get the last word."

"Wouldn't surprise me." Stephen returned, still watching the train. "In any case, it doesn't matter. She's not our problem anymore."

"Do you think she fell for it?

"By the time she figures it out, she'll be long gone, and have other things on her mind. Like an awakening, just to name one example."

"So what happens now?" asked Peter.

"When she gets to the mountains, she will be met, accidentally, by a Tibetan monk who needs her help. She will go with him, and find a Tibetan temple that is not on any of the maps. When she gets there, she will endure an awakening, and be helped and trained by the residents."

Peter threw his partner a surprised look. "You've arranged all this?"

"Yep. When the Chinese army invaded Tibet, and destroyed all the temples, the Tulku who trained my grandfather came to him for help. He arranged transport here. The temple of the cobras now stands in the Catskill Mountains."

Peter laughed in amazement. "And she won't even realise it's a setup when she gets there."

  "Exactly."

"But, why? A week ago you would have let her mind fry."

"Kind of a lot's happened since then." Stephen said.

  "True."

The men headed to meet Moe's cab. They got in and headed for the Cobalt Club. On the way, Stephen spoke again. "By the way, I just remembered. Who was she aiming at? Was she trying to shoot me or Khan?"

Peter looked thoughtful. "I'd tell you, but you already know the answer."

Stephen thought for a moment. "Yeah. I guess so."

The men headed into the Cobalt Club, and ordered themselves drinks. "So, you and Vic get old wounds torn open, Khan gets away from you, Diane's psyche almost explodes, Khan loses his student, a bunch of Mongols get trashed and the Sanctum explodes. In the annuals of the most pointless, useless, screwed up, no win scenario missions, that has to take the cake."

"I'll drink to that." Stephen toasted.

Peter suddenly laughed. "I suddenly realised. "For once, your personal life is more messed up than mine."

Stephen laughed, and raised his glass in a toast. "Here's to old wounds. May they stay closed forever."

  "Cheers." Answered Peter.

The two heroes raised their glasses as the sun rose high in the outside sky.

The End
