Fan Fiction: Crossovers
Can't Get You Outta My Head

Chapter 12 (pt 2)

Peter fought a laugh, and tried to calm Victor. "It's okay. She's out cold."

Victor stormed on Stephen. "How do you know you can trust her? You couldn't have asked me?"

"Where were you anyway?" Asked Stephen.

"I heard about a huge explosion and a car chase downtown. I thought I would go and see if I could do anything."

"Khan won't be back for a while, I think we shut him down this time. But I've just confirmed that he escaped."

"Damn." Victor whispered. "What about her?"

"Khan has been messing with her energies. When I got back to her she was on the verge of mindburst."

"WHAT?" Victor hissed hoarsely. "You don't mess with telepathic energy. You just don't."

"I know, at this point, she'll be about a three days from awakening. Don't worry; she'll be leaving soon. I'll make sure of that." Stephen assured.

Victor looked mollified. "Okay. I'll leave it in your hands then. Lets hope that's the last time we see Khan for a while."

  "Let's hope." Peter whispered reverently.

Victor left the attic. Stephen handed Peter a large roll of paper. "These are the preliminary plans for the sanctum rebuild. What do you think?"

Peter looked them over, and grinned hugely. "You added a darkroom!"

Stephen smiled. "I thought somebody should get something out of this chaotic mess."

Peter looked over the plans more carefully. "Thank you."

  "You're welcome."

Diane slowly felt herself wake up; glad that at least the pain in her head was a little less.

She could hear the sound of trains, P.A. announcements, and felt a strong grip on her shoulder.

Memories of the previous day flooded back and she abruptly opened her eyes.

She looked left. It was Stephen. "Good morning sunshine."

She looked right. It was… Khan? "I was wondering when that sedative would wear off."

She suddenly realised that they were both looking at her, and screamed. She leaped to her feet, and tried to run, when she felt them both grip a shoulder each, and pull her back to her hard plastic chair.

"Now you just can't run away, after all the trouble we went to." Stephen scolded.

The P.A. sounded. "The train on platform number 3 is headed for the Catskill Mountains." For the first time, Diane looked around. She was at a train station, the sun was still low near the horizon, and the platform was empty except for them.

"That's your train." Khan announced and Stephen and Khan actually lifter her up, dragging her at a rapid clip toward the train, pulling into the station.

"You are going up to the Catskills for a few weeks." Declared Stephen.

  "I…" Diane started.

"When you get there, you are going to stay in town, and relax for a while. I won't be following." Continued Khan.

  "But…"

"You can go where you like after that." Stephen said in The Shadow's no nonsense tone.

  "How…"

"But you will not ever try to find us again." Khan ordered.

"And you will not speak to anyone about what you've done or what happened while you were in New York." Finished Stephen.

They were almost to the train. Diane noticed that her feet had not touched the ground once since they had started their march.

"Because if you do talk, we will know." Hissed Stephen.

"And then we will be there." Khan whispered ominously.

"Around every corner. In every empty room." Hissed Stephen, showing his Shadow side.

"And you will have to spend your life in hiding." Khan shoved a travel bag into her arms.

"Have a pleasant ride." Finished Stephen shoving her at the open train door.

Diane caught her breath as the doors slid shut. She turned and looked back. Stephen and Khan were standing side by side. They waved in unison, looking somewhat sinister.

Despite herself, she waved back. Khan and Stephen started to walk away.

The train started to pull away. But before it left, Diane ran to the window. "I love you." She called.

The men stopped, and looked back. She waved again, and closed the window.
