The New Shadow Movie Poll

Which composer would you pick to do the soundtrack?

Want to add your own opinion? Email me! Don't forget to read the rules though.

Hollywood is full of many great composers and to show my cynicism (as a purist) the music from some of these modern superhero/action hero films is often the best part (a lot of these comic book adaptations simply aren't very good.) I will throw out a few suggestions as I am not set on a certain person for the job:
  • Danny Elfman (whose Batman [1989] soundtrack is a high point in film scores).
  • John Williams (who terrified us in Jaws, captivated us with Star Wars and ultimately who made us believe a man could fly with Superman).
  • Howard Shore (who did the Lord of the Rings fantasy films and who proved he could do a serious crime drama with The Departed).
  • Alan Silvestri (who is one of the best; he wrote the beautiful and playful score to Polar Express).
and lastly...
  • James Newton Howard (who scored the modern retelling of King Kong [2005] and made that film epic).
—Greg D.
I think Jerry Goldsmith** could do it once again, he did tremendous job on the first movie. Danny Elfman would be awesome too. Whoever will be the composer, I hope it won't be Hans Zimmer.

—A. A.

**Webimistress' Note: Though Jerry Goldsmith passed away in July 2004, it would be nice if he could do the soundtrack again if he were alive today.
