Book 2 - Prologue

  Present Day...

A darkly clad figure walked down a winding set of stairs into a dimly lit cavern. He strode across the room to his simple library. In the center of his book shelves, was his desk. As he approached it, he looked at the envelope that was on it. The envelope had the seal of the Talisman of Cortez imprinted upon it. One of his agents had taken it from one of Ra's al Ghul's men and sent it to him. The mark of the talisman on the envelope told him that much. As he opened the envelope, pictures fell out it, pictures of Ra's al Ghul in a cave similar to the one he was now in. The pictures also showed Ra's al Ghul standing next to a man. The man appeared dressed as a bat. His look was fearful and rather vampiric. He had heard of this person known as The Batman. He had heard The Batman was a vigilante even perhaps a hero, but no man could be a hero and work with the man who planned to destroy the world; the man who had murdered his mentor. Besides, it would not be the first time he had encountered one of Ra's agents operating under the guise of a hero.

The envelope also came with a map of Gotham City. He would need this to study the layout of the city in order to stalk its hellish corridors. Once he reached Gotham he would find The Batman, force him to disclose any information he had on Ra's al Ghul and then kill him. With that, the figure strode back across the cave and began to ascend the stairs.
